Is there any legal way to get "Windows 2000 embedded sp3"?

Works fine for me. I use it professionally 8-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Same goes for the latest version of VS2017.

Getting that software doesn't mean only downloading it... I want to get a copy of windows 2000 embedded and it's service pack 3. If I have to buy it again it's OK. And if Microsoft or any reseller has it and can give access to it somehow, but in a legal way, I'm in.

I don't think so. The software is out in the wild, but I would be careful with any of the sites that are offering this. Question, is there a reason you need this old version? Updating to the new version is not going to work for you? Edit: If you can, get them on Windows 7, then slowly migrate them to Windows 10 when you can, if the app(s) will let you. Windows 7 end of life (extended) is sometime in 2020, I think.

Until a bit over 2 years ago, part of my job was generating data files to be used by an NT4 embedded system. :omg: :wtf: The end user of the system is only 75% through procuring replacements (give or take how current the wikipedia data is); so the last of the systems in the field will still probably be around for another year or three. IIRC when I left my old job the ETA for full replacement was supposed to be 2020; but even for a boring well functioning program like the P-8A Poseidon, I'd not be surprised if it's shifted by at least a year one way or the other due to the perversities of Congress.

The start of the year actually, mainstream versions only get the first patch Tuesday of the year (January 14, 2020). Enterprise versions can have 3 more years of increasingly expensive (was hundreds/pc/year for XP) paid patching. Embedded versions have their own longer support life cycles based on when they were released but generally in the [mid 2020's](http://blogs.directinsight.co.uk/end-of-life-dates-for-windows-embedded-products-2/). If you, or someone else has an MSDN subscription, you probably can download it as an .ISO image.
Correct, no probably about it, it is still available under most MSDN Proffessional accounts and above. Problem is, you'll have to take out a 1yr subscription, and that will cost you about $1600. However, not only will you get the ISO your after, but absolutley everything else as well. Basically, shell out, get a 1yrsubs, download all the ISO's you have access too, make a copy of all your keys, and claim as many as your allowed (But not too fast, and not all at once, otherwise you'll get blocked), then don't renew afterwards. I still have ISO's and keys from the MSDN account I had 5 years ago, and they all still work.

I did some searching and what I found says that there never was an official Embedded install. People would install 2000 Server and then install the Server Appliance Kit over it. I found a SP4 install, it should be close enough. Advanced Server SP4 Server Appliance Kit 2.01

That's a good tip, I will keep that in mind :-\
Here in the UK, you can get a developer 1 yr subscription for about £400, so all you basically do is take that out for a year, and over that year gradually allocate all the keys your allowed, make sure you keep an offline record of them. When your sub's is over, you still have your keys. and to be fair, if you search around on Microsofts public internet pages, you can pretty much find any ISO you want. I mean, if you have a legit Win 7 install, you can still get the free upgrade to WIn 10 if you know where to look ;-) There's more too, you just need to do a little bit of legwork.
