Rehoming fees

Um. They don't last long (4 to 6 years), and they're pretty boring most of the time - still a big commitment though. Better than Gerbils but not a lot. A cat is a lot more independant and live a whole lot longer.

Ohw, I can smell it, but I stink more than my cat :) Goedzo has an electrical collar (pet fence) that allows him to go into the garden, but not beyond the wiring. He often shits there, instead of the litter-bin. Compare that to walking a dog, but without the walking. If it rains, he'll prefer the bin. Picking up a single cat-turd is simpeler and faster than picking up 40 pellets that the rabbit produces between the hay.

I somehow don't think you're lazy enough to accept the smell of a cat turd for three days. Simply check it when waking up and when going to sleep, no biggy. C'mon, get her a kitten or a puppy :D

So, I googled rabbit farmers again at your suggestion and found a rescue place. On their site they explain that a rabbit is NOT a simple pet to take care of. Not that they are complicated but they need attention and cleaning every day. I think a guinea pig might be better.

I used to keep gerbils. What's great about gerbils is that that don't smell at all and they tend to be fairly active. With a little patience it's also possible to train them to run up your arm and sit on your shoulder. I wouldn't discount gerbils as a good pet.

BTW, his rabbit is very well behaved. I've never experienced a tame rabbit like that. It is a female and he had it "fixed" which also increases the rabbit's life-span greatly. His girlfriend has two guinea pigs (also from petland) and they are very well behaved and happy and very tame. That all said. My son was bit one time by his rabbit. He was using a shedding glove on the rabbit and it thought it was a monster so it bit. After that nothing else ever. His girlfriend was bit by the one guinea pig one time but that's because she was trimming it's nails and it was young. After that, all good behavior. Good luck.

I'm looking on craigslist for a pet rabbit for my daughter. I emailed one listing and they responded that there is a rehoming fee. Why bother calling it a rehoming fee? Why not just say you are selling your pet? Does the word "rehoming" make the pet owner feel better about themselves? Seems silly to me.

Has the rabbit got that much stuff that needs moved with them? I'd get 3 bids from reputable moving companies first then negotiate!

Yeah, mine really doesn't like to use his litter tray - but when he does I just clean the pooh and wet litter out as soon as I notice and it doesn't smell. Add in and empty and bleach of the tray every week and it's all fine. Certainly rodents smell all the time, because they don't care where they go...

Add in and empty and bleach of the tray every week and it's all fine. Certainly rodents smell all the time, because they don't care where they go...

If it stinks he'll do it somewhere else, so not really an option to let it sit and "develop".

My pet rock is great - it never poops, doesn't bite or growl at visitors, has no special food requirements (actually no requirements at all) and just likes to sit on a sunny windowsill. I can talk to it and it listens like it understands me. It already knows some tricks like "sit" and "stay" but hasn't got the hang of "roll over" without help yet. If it ever does I'll know there is an earthquake coming!
