Yesterday's newspaper had a shocking headline. "Joe Blow Murdered at Stinkin' Desert Apartments; suspect captured in Kingman" - the names are changed, of course. In the fine print I read the name and age of one of my dart playing buddies for the past 6 years as the suspect in custody. He seems to have walked into the guy's apartment and blew his brains out. What a shock. He's 30 years old, married with two beautiful kids, has a good job, doesn't drink, smoke, or use drugs. I've never seen him in an argument, heard him raise his voice, and as far as I know, he doesn't even own a gun. I know that it's wrong to assume he's guilty just because he's been arrested, but the cops around here are really fairly good at this stuff, and I've never heard of a case where they got the wrong guy. The odds are very good that he did it, if they picked him up and booked him. First degree murder - life with no possibility for parole here, if not the death penalty - that's grim. The emails have been flying, the whole dart league is in shock. Worse, he doesn't have a phone, and no one has his current address, so there's no way for any of us to contact his family. Have you ever had a friend or associate who did something so completely out of character?

I heard last night that he's been on medication prescribed by a psychiatrist for the past 6 months, but no info about the problem. Some of the anti-depressant drugs have odd side-effects; I hope that proves to be the case in this matter. It won't get him off, but it might be a mitigating factor in sentencing.

I also think too many people in US take these anti-depressants with out real need for them. Happiness and unhappiness are part of life, and artifically changing moods without changing what causes them (like a bad job, stress, marital problems, other sickness etc.) helps no one. I have a friend here, who was diagnosed of depression. He had just lost his job, his wife had just moved out, and he was living in a basement. What more do you need to get depressed? .. and to think that a pill would help him get out of the depression is ludicrous. After a while, he decided that the medication is not helping, and decided to take a break, went visting one of his friends in Texas, talked to his wife and reconciled differences, and guess what, he is fine. Sometimes it takes a support cast to pull people out of depression, and no amount of medicine can help. Roger Wright wrote: Some of the anti-depressant drugs have odd side-effects Very true ! I went on them after a friend had been attacked and I ended up sleeping about 3 hours a night. Fortunately my doctor and I were both aware of the limitations, they were so I could start sleeping again which took about 2 months. The wierdest side effect was when I came off them - tapered off over a couple of weeks. One morning I was driving to work, decent weather and got about half way there. THEN I WOKE UP !!!! Suddenly I was looking up at the ceiling, heart pounding :wtf: The dream had been so realistic in every detail I couldn't tell it was a dream, down to feeling the sun on my arms. This was with mild anit-depressants too. Used correctly they are extremely useful, but you must understand what they can and cannot do. And the harm. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

I am not sure about that. I understand that he has been working since he was 5 years old and never had a real childhood, never had time to play. That has made him alittle strange. But to be honest I don't know much about the man ... :) jhaga CodeProject House, Paul Watson wrote: ...and the roar of John Simmons own personal Nascar in the garage. I saw this long interview with him (the one which he was so pissed off about). I decided then that he's totally wacko. (and I never liked his music anyway, so it's not a great loss for me either ;)) -- I'm the figure head on a ship of fools

One morning when I was in high school, I flipped on the morning news to hear that a classmate who was in my physical education class shot and killed a store owner in a robbery. This was back in 1985 or so. He was 17 and was tried as an adult. He slipped by the death penalty because of his age and received life with no parole.
