I was gearing up to start a new competition but figured that instead of just having a plain-Jane 'best article' comp, I'd invite you guys to offer some more interesting suggestions. Failing that I'm just gonna hide 20 pics of Nick Hodapp drinking VB and give the first person to find them all some goodies ;) cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)

How about a competition to see who lives closest to the South Pole here, with a $500 FatBrain voucher as a prize ? How about an article that provides the best re-orginization and most complete documentation for the various Dundas toolkits? :) That was a poke in the ribs for Troy. :)

It seems that some of the replys to this topic are appearing in the "Gripes" topic. Did we just find a bug? ;-) -- Paul "I drank... WHAT?"

What about a "the most creative way" of coding, or code a defined algorithm with the least amount of code? My inspiration for this are the various ways the DeCSS code was distributed. The most impressive way was to express this as a prime number.

I have an idea, though. How about randomly choosing five people called "David" who's surname ends in "W" to be the winners? I am sure that would be a fairer competition. A more serious suggestion - how about a code obsfucation contest ? I love looking at those things.... Hmm some ideas. 1) An article on the pro's and con's of Microsoft. Lets face it we need to have an end to this mindless slagging of Microsoft. I think a lot of us, myself included, do not actually know very much about their practices (good and bad) and why some people are so anti them. I guess the article would consist of a mini-time-line along with major aquisitions, product releases, court cases etc. It would need some research and an objective view-point. 2) A good introduction to web-services centered around how we can actually use them in everyday applications. We have had plenty of articles explaining web services plus how they fit into cross-enterprise systems but what about smaller applications or internal applications? e.g. How would web-services be used in the development of an eMail client, word processor, warehousing app, stock management app etc. 3) Or you could just show us the pictures and the funniest comment on them wins? ;P regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org
