Maybe start an ideas comments section below the general comments section, and have a sub-thread for each idea?
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." - Jesus
"An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind." - Mahatma GandhiJust post it here with a good message title. If you would like to elaborate on the idea, then post a new message in the IDEAS thread with your elaboration. We'll get the top few messages based on voting and then we'll pick one amongst ourselves.

Ok... 1 think I always find myself doing when I'm talking to fellow CPians [via IM] is using things like  and . Why not make an Instant Messenging system... we could use the SIP and/or Jabber protocols so it could interoperate with MSN, AIM, ICQ and so on. It's not a massive project and not too difficult, it'll be good to get to know the others in the group and it's something we could all use on future projects to aid in our communication and so on. As well as being able to communicate with MSN and so on [SIP is great :-D] and having all the CP emoticons [very important] it could conenct to the CP rss feed and pull information from the web services here on CP [along with other webservices/rss feeds]. Integrated colloberation tools for CPP and so on Just a thought. Regards, Brian Dela :-)

But there's already hundreds (almost  ) of those out there. Why not make something we need and could use to make our day_to_day life easier? - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

Let's make an effort to take those wonderful ideas and tutorials posted on CodeProject and make Universal Gui LibrarY (UGLY) :-D. Take those owner-drawn buttons and transparent labels and custom scroll-bars and sliders and make a whole suite of tools for windows programming. We would want to provide: Consistent interface across controls (function calls, data types, iterators) Maximum flexibility (skinning, derivable classes) Maximum efficiency (speedy, powerful, easy to use) Cross platform availability (.NET, MFC, Win32) please add more.

We want to get the best ideas, so why limit voting?

Ok, I'm in. But if the project is anything involving WMD, I'm out :-D Kant wrote: Actually she replied back to me "You shouldn't fix the bug. You should kill it"

I would also like to volunteer. However, I would like to opt out if the work severely disinterests me. Chris Richardson
Terrain SoftwareNo - once you've been assimilated there is no "out". Mwahahaha... cheers, Chris Maunder

Let me know what you need in terms of infrastructure. While we can't, in the short term, offer a SourceForg type environment I am more than happy to try and shoehorn whatever we currently have into whatever form is needed. Maybe there is a only a tiny change you need made for one of our systems to work a little better. cheers, Chris Maunder
You going to join in in this? :bob: Regards, Brian Dela :-)

WE need to do this simply in order to use the acronym. I love it :) cheers, Chris Maunder

Basic application framework with support for: :rose: Addins - the kind of addin can be as powerful as the original application :rose: Commands - self-runnable commands that can be invoked by menus, toolbars, or code :rose: Properties - A framework for easily reading and writing properties - including an interface for persisting any class to XML. :rose: Messages - a system for outputting messages that abstracts the message from the output method, so that the same message can be outputted to a message box, a statusbar, a log file, an MS Agent character, etc. :rose: Services - everything that performs an action for another object is a service. There can be services such as help, file IO, etc.

Since someone submitted an idea for a C# book ... :-D We have found that there is not much well written on writing WinForm applications in .NET and yet it is very different from the old days in some ways. So I put in a suggestion for a book on writing winform applications. _____________________________________________ The world is a dangerous place.
