Here is my idea, although it may already exist, or to complicated to program. I need a browser/spider that will spider websites on certain topics. Imagine for a moment this example, It would be ideal for me to set the search (I would imagine it must be a specific search) "+neuroscience +unified +theory -book"(etc) maybe an option for only .edu domains etc. After setting the search options, leave the computer overnite and my results are downloaded(one page deep/html only, for example) or urls saved with title infomation. Why not just use google? well not everything is listed on google and their might be important information/ideas out there. Another example would be for a subject you're interested in, lets say American Politics. I spoke with Marc Clifton about this particular idea. First you would tell the program your concept of American Politics are, like dislikes, experiences( i have made an example text page of this concept tagging idea but I can not find it right now, will post later?). After the concept is built the program will return results that you might find of interest based on your concept, with an option to modify, of course:) So that's my crazy idea, didn't someone post a Microsoft news article that they are working something similair to this, I would like to see who could do better CPians or MS;P I would have suggested human ai but I don't think this is an effiecent way to do it.:-O I would join in the project but I have so many thing going on right now I know it wouldn't be a good decision. I can be a consultant however:-D Later,

Using P2P it would make it easier collect information than if you were to use Google, because many people would be apart of this. The AI part of this would be determining the subjects of the content. I have thought of something like this but the main concerns are: performance, and people with dialup (who could that be i wonder :|) -Steven "the yellow dart" Hicks

How about an artificial life project with a CP twist? imagine Reproducing Bobs... Seriously, would anyone be interested in an ALife/AI project? This may satisfy JoeSox and also give the rest of us some AI experience.

OK I have an idea and I'm currently working on it at the moment. Will post it as an article once it has gone beyond the pre-alpha stage :-)

UGL (Universal Gui Library) [EDIT: Oops! I just saw that there already are one Graphics Library named UGL http://www.gaeinc.com/ugl.pdf [^] ] /EDIT] Better name I think. UGLY is a little too suggestive. Just imagine working in that project and thinking UGLY, UGLY the whole day and dreaming the whole night... :) And, impossible to search on Google with all those other "ugly" things .. For example 269.000 hits on "UGLY graphics" jhaga CodeProject House, Paul Watson wrote: ...and the roar of John Simmons own personal Nascar in the garage. Not to be a "Negative Nancy" but VSS is just about the worse development tool I have ever used esp. when it comes to significantly sized projects. It is fine for a small projects but just dose not scale well. Don't belive me? Look as MS, they moved their development teams away from it long ago. It would be a shame and waste of time to have to migrate a VSS repisitory to something like CVS or any of the better SCMs well into a project. Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. Basic application framework with support for: :rose: Addins - the kind of addin can be as powerful as the original application :rose: Commands - self-runnable commands that can be invoked by menus, toolbars, or code :rose: Properties - A framework for easily reading and writing properties - including an interface for persisting any class to XML. :rose: Messages - a system for outputting messages that abstracts the message from the output method, so that the same message can be outputted to a message box, a statusbar, a log file, an MS Agent character, etc. :rose: Services - everything that performs an action for another object is a service. There can be services such as help, file IO, etc.

I think this is a fine idea. Marc Clifton has already sown the seeds as far as I am concerned. After his series of articles I don't look at application development the same way. Marc are you reading? Any chances in moving the AAL from a source forge project to a part or subporject of the new CP project? Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see. What I like best are the addin/codon stuff, and the XML property persistance. What I don't like is: :rose: they still don't have a unified user message system. :rose: they don't have a good menu/toolbar system - I have an idea which would only use commands, which could be on menus or toolbars, and would allow user customization of menus/toolbars.

 Actually, mainly 'cause if it wasn't .NET, it would probably be MFC or ATL and I don't have those.

How about an artificial life project with a CP twist? imagine Reproducing Bobs... Seriously, would anyone be interested in an ALife/AI project? This may satisfy JoeSox and also give the rest of us some AI experience.

I actually tossed around the idea of a .NET engine that we could write plug-ins for, and which could battle each other and use primitive AI to attack, defend, build, repair and form clans. And then Microsoft built Terrarium  cheers, Chris Maunder

Yeah - I'm still trying to find a service provider for my two tin cans and string that I bought over with me. cheers, Chris Maunder
