Unable to reply, message under moderation
-
Two days in a row now I got an e-mail about someone replying to one of my messages; the email ends with: "Do not hit 'reply' to this email: To reply, click here." When I click, I find a "Message currently under review" with content "This message has been flagged as potential spam and is awaiting moderation" and no means to reply. Example[^] Suggestion: the addressee, possibly qualified by sufficient reputation points, could be offered a way to (1) lift the moderation status and/or (2) reply anyway. TIA

Or maybe the notification message shouldn't be sent until the reply has been approved? Possibly linked to: Notifications showing too soon | Bugs and Suggestions[^]

that would be the preferred action on real spam  otherwise it is just an unnecessary delay... does anyone know the recent spam/nospam ratio for the under-review messages? I don't know how a message gets an "under review" status, however a good approach for early notification could be: - give all members a spam counter, initially set at say 2; - for each of his messages that get put under review, send an immediate notification when the spam counter is zero; - and either increment (by 1) or decrement (by 1) the spam counter appropriately (don't make it negative though) at review time. :)

Good points. So 1) we could see if there's an elegant way to add a note: "You have moderator ability. Click here to moderate this message", or 2) only send the notification about a message when the message is actually published. You don't need notifications of spam

Yeah. You probably could introduce restricted moderator rights like so: - assuming a certain level of reputation; - only applying to messages that are replies to ones own messages. - rights limited to "accept as non-spam" or "do nothing" (i.e. leave it to a full moderator). :)
