what's a Gizmo watch? sound's a bit faddish/silly. my gifting inspiration comes from my father: - a firm believer in only buying useful gifts for me and my brothers. once he really splashed out big and got us a lawnmower, I mean a proper one with a motor :-D .

 When they were old enough to mow, my two oldest boys bought their own. Same with their cars, insurance, phones, etc.

Looking for some feedback and suggestions on what model / provider to get it from. Thanks. There seems to be dozens of knock-offs, and it's hard to tell what's what. :~

        what are kids?

When I was growin' up, I was the smartest kid I knew. Maybe that was just because I didn't know that many kids. All I know is now I feel the opposite.

Oh, those screaming things I eat. Weird that some humans implement ICloneable. Mine returns E_NOTSUPPORTED but then I'm gay and furthermore could only charitably be called human at this point. I'm told that has something to do with it.

My take is to give them a mickey mouse watch and let them break it before giving them something that costs real money.

              I'd rather be phishing!

I don't have any Apple products at home - no phone/laptop/tablet/other-device. So I am not sure I want to spend that kinda money when there's no existing ecosystem to fit it into.

I avoid as much as possible to have kids confronted to smart devices, so a smart watch is certainly the last thing I would buy them. :~ First, I do not know what possible electromagnetic waves these cheap chinese hardware are emitting (with cheap I mean the quality, not the price), so it does not sound healthy to get one permanently on a child's arm, and then, I have to battle already much so that they do not spend hours on our tablets/phones/etc... so a watch is definitely a no go.

Do not escape reality : improve reality !

Good points but we were mostly curious about the GPS tracking as a safety feature when dropping him off for classes. Also an easy way for him to stay in touch with us.
