He's gonna scrape all the ice off and dump it on CA, NY and DC and claim to have solved global warming. :) ;P

I don't mind, even with Trump as president, but then again I have had a canadian passport for only 15 years or so. Then I would move to Texas and buy a bible and a gun :)

He doesn't, necessarily. But it pokes China in the eye, since Greenland could supply all the rare earths China currently does. Kind of a 'See? No one really needs you, China.'

One or the other. Or even both. But I like it better if it's your version...China in secret negotiations with Denmark that get smashed when Denmark declares Greenland isn't for sale.

FTFY Greenland is actually autonomous. I bet the Greenlanders are quite pissed about the Great Negotiator going over their heads. The Chinese at least knows with whom to talk.

Yeah, you could well be right, China has cornered the market in rare earth elements.

Autonomous, yes. Not entirely separated from Denmark, though. Not yet, anyway.

Danish PM 'disappointed and surprised' by Trump's cancellation of visit after 'absurd' Greenland bid | Daily Mail Online[^] Trump: "Hey, lets buy Greenland!" Danish PM: "Dont be absurd!" Trump: "No one talks to the US under me that way!" Stomps his feet and cancels his state visit to Denmark. What a prat, really! Utterly pathetic.

Trump does strange, unexpected things during negotiations, which somehow lets him get his way in the end. I predict that, in the next few months, the U.S. will gain control of Greenland's natural resources and block other superpowers from doing the same. You can call it pathetic, but it seems to always work.
