Then you find out your time machine divides by zero, and you're stranded there. Well done, Marc...

Into the future, or the past, and, be present as an invisible observer: when/where would you go ? I'll add my choice, later.

Here's an important twist: Are you allowed to come back, or is this a one-way trip? Would be interesting to see how people's answer would be different if that condition was introduced. I'd bet most people would think a lot harder about that choice, and that some would prefer not to go anywhere at all, despite what they think about their current circumstances...

Once you have established time travel as possible why would you limit yourself to one time/place only? Of course, the first time/place I would visit is to be in Hitler's bunker when he takes the poison and then follow his body out to when it was burned. I haven't had a good belly laugh for a long time.

            - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

No particular order: - October 11, 1492 to watch the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria before they step foot on Guanahani. - Febuary 07, 2862 to lobby the world government to remove the temporal non-interference treaty and extend coverage down to 2000. - III Akhet 8, I'd go and watch the construction work on the Great Pyramid of Cheops as it's being renovated by Khufu. - July 20, 1969 to watch Neil Armstrong step on the moon. Hmmm, I dunno it consumes alot of energy to remain into 3-space for an extended period of time. The good news is that they are only expecting 150,000 people to attend the festival. Maybe we can find a parking spot. What kind of time travel? The one from back to the future or the one from hot tub time machine? Meaning are we talking branching time lines here or one self-coherent spacetime?
