Has anyone used hfnetchk.exe? I was thinking that seeing as the tool downloads an XML file from a MS server, wouldn't it be kinda handy if it not only listed the patches you are missing, but also either offered to download them or at least gave you a URL where you could grab the patches directly? And maybe the topic of the next CP competition would be 'who can make a GUI front end for hfnetchk.exe the quickest?' ;P cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)

I haven't used hfnetchk, but I have used the online version that Shavlik provide (Shavlik Personal Security Advisor) and found it to be most impressive and very informative. I think that version does actually provide links to the patches and even related knowledge base articles. Derek Lakin. Salamander Software Ltd.

I used it and I like the tool. But I immediately had the same thought as you, why does this program not offer me to actually install the patches, it would make life so much easier. I was also amazed by the amount of patches not installed, even warnings, printed by the program, while regularly running Windows Update. Sito Dekker
