Hi All, I moaned about Win 10 mucking my monitors up (go it sorted) now for the winge is 'Paint3D', not being very arty I always found Windows Paint to be useful quick doodles, now I have been forced to 10 we Paint3D which combines Paint with 3D! So you have to battle an interface that is odd just to save a bleedin' fault bitmap (which has to be a PNG) for some stupid reason it tries to save them as BMP's! Why, the old worked fine! :(

I completely agree, used to use it, but the 'Flower' that controls the PC won't allow it! I have used Adobe Photo thing find Paint.NET better!

I've run into the same thing, except about the superb installer tool Inno Setup[^]. The @#!$!!$ muppets in our IT gestapo decided that since it was freeware it was suspicious and they blocked access to the web site. This despite the fact that I've been using it for all of our product installers for over ten years. When I told them this they threw their hands up in horror, and then fainted dead away when I also told them I hadn't vetted it through the company legal department before using it.

Don't kid about Notepad. Mary Jo Foley (long-time Windows journalist and one of the current hosts of the [Windows Weekly podcast](https://twit.tv/shows/windows-weekly)) is dead serious about MS *not* changing Notepad as that's the only tool she uses and she doesn't want it to get any sort of new "feature". It's become a recurring joke on the podcast.

            Start|Run mspaint (win key + R) it's still there.

When I was growin' up, I was the smartest kid I knew. Maybe that was just because I didn't know that many kids. All I know is now I feel the opposite.

But now it has new features - line nos in the footer. A star after the filename to show it has been changed and not saved. They may be minor (and actually useful albeit not original) but it shows that even Notepad is not sacrosanct.

I hope you are not saying you prefer Paint.NET over Photoshop?? I prefer MSPaint over Paint.NET, use GIMP or InkScape instead if you need free. Do they still include the standard Paint in Win10? I only ever found the Paint3D, so I copied the MSPaint.exe across from a 8.1 installation thinking it wasn't included...

Guys, a full version of Photoshop can be had for $10/Month. Its all I've ever needed for any image format. 3D is also part of the tool these days.

I though it was done for, but I typed into the Search function and up it popped! same with NotePad (not that I use it!) :)

Yeah - MS is really showing a lot of restraint with those updates...
