If you know anything about pinewood derby races... I've got a laptop that is connected to a video projector. I have an adapter that converts the laptop's HDMI signal to the projector's VGA signal. The laptop is collecting data from the race track and displaying it on the laptop's monitor, which is then mirrored on the video projector. All that works fine. What I also want to do is put a video camera (e.g., GoPro) in place to show the cars as they come across the finish line. How can I get the output of the video camera to the laptop (so that it can also be shown on the video projector)? Thanks. DC

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) would likely fit nicely. It's aimed at streaming, but it supports (multiple)camera overlays over a main screen. I've used it and it worked well.

In other words, your response is just as helpful as mine. :-D

When I was a boy, scouting for girls was cool. Scouting for boys was for the forest nerds.

The laptop's HDMI port is connected to the video projector, and the two USB ports are being used (one is connected to the race track, and the other is connected to the mouse/keyboard).

Have you tried connecting a USB hub to give you more connections? Also, many cameras have a network port so you could just create a small network containing the camera and the laptop. I connected to 68 cameras to a server this way. I then wrote software to enable multiple streams from any of them - they had been restricted to only two per camera but this method enabled more than that.

                            - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

USB Hub and USB cable to your GoPro is probably the best solution.
