What's really surprising is that most people here find John "cute" in some grotesque way. How many times have you read somthing like "Haha, that's just John", or "That was unusually polite, John"? Many other boards would ban him for some of his comments. Anyway, just thought I'd add some fuel to the fire. ;P

It all depends on your sense of humour, some people are just too sensitive. They'd not last five minutes in some of the places I've worked. You've got to learn to ignore the stuff that annoys you and laugh at the funny stuff. Michael 'War is at best barbarism...Its glory is all moonshine. I thought that too at first, but then I saw through him. He's not trying to be humorous in the way he addresses me, he's trying to be offensive. He's a bigot, pure and simple. No matter how elloquent, that deserves zero respect. Okay, we are in some sort of agreement. I guess the "C# India post" in the lounge was too much for John to resist. :-) Jason Henderson wrote: He then turned around and attempted to insult me. That is normal :-) the mere fact that John has bothered to insult you is an honor. Many people visit CP and miss out on being insulted by him. Jason Henderson wrote: Childish, vindictive behavior is not charming, IMO, To me it's just "text" and to read, real emotions and sentiment into CP forum messages, can lead people into delusional states. Sarcasm, criticisms , rhetoric and cynicism etc don't translate well. Jason Henderson wrote: BTW, Chris chastised him just a couple of days ago in the Lounge. Probably with good reason once again, although Chris seems to think he owns CP now, which is a bit of a worry. Regardz Colin J Davies

Tell you the truth most of what John says, or least the way goes about, is how I am with my buddies when we go out drinking, or when we're at work for that matter. It's crass, sometimes obnoxious, sometimes a little close to the truth, sometimes a bit extreme, but taken as some bullshit from the "peanut gallery" it's entertaining most of the time.:-D BW "I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific." - Lily Tomlin

Everyone can have their opinion - I've nothing against that. What bothers me is that it's somehow cool to be rude. It isn't - it's just rude. Any normal 10 year old can be offensive - it's when they're polite that other people pay attention... You can still have your "blunt old man". What we have here is an "obnoxious old man", an entirely different - and far less likeable - entity.

I'm not drunk, and I'm deadly serious. He's done his utmost to try to hurt me - and I don't consider it "fun" or "sport". Conduct like that is unacceptable in the workplace, so why should it be applauded here? First, if you want to claim you have a mental problem that causes you to think you're a girl, and if you want to bring it up here, you should be ready for a certain amount of ridicule, and outright insults. Second, if you think just because *you're* okay with it means that everyone else has to be, you should consider scheduling more time with your shrink. Third, I'm not threatened by anything you do or the reasons you do it, but it must be mighty comforting to be able to tell that to yourself, so keep on keepin' on. Fourth, if I had done my best to upset you, you would have stopped coming here long ago. And you can bet that I've said many things here that many other people would like to say, but are thankful that I've stepped up to say it so they don't have to. Finally, I generally ignore your posts unless you address me specifically, or that other instance where you chimed in about why so few females are programmers, so don't be starting any bullshit based on outright fabrications. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

I gave that some thought, but I can't think of anything specifically about aethiests. I need material to work with (they have to have said something absurd, or that strikes me as a possible pooint of humor). Since I don't think organized religion is necessary for me, I don't see it as insulting religions, but you gotta admit that there's a lot of weird ass things that the various religions think are "divinations from god/your favorite deity". Everything from what food to eat to how to dress, and even that you can't use modern machines. I mean seriously, that's ridiculous. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

Maybe if you live in 1960s midwest America. I don't, and times have changed, or haven't you noticed? Current studies indicate that intense dysphoria affects 1:250 to 1:500 of the population. Intersex conditions affect 1:1000. For most, the recognised treatment is reassignment to the gender of the mind, not the sex of the body. It's routine, and believe me I'm not the only one on CP. The others keep their heads down. I don't blame them, but it's not my way. I'm not drunk, and I'm deadly serious. He's done his utmost to try to hurt me - and I don't consider it "fun" or "sport". Conduct like that is unacceptable in the workplace, so why should it be applauded here? No point in re-hashing stuff twice. Anna-Jayne Metcalfe wrote: Conduct like that is unacceptable in the workplace, so why should it be applauded here? Ummmm, because it's NOT the workplace, and I don't see anyone applauding. You should really select your nomenclature with more care and forethought. Why do you feel the need to start shit now Andy? I thought we had established an uneasy truce through mutal refusal to recognize each other's messages. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

But see, I wasn't ranting. It also appears that of 425,000 users, only a very small handful actually feel the need to voice their objections. That means over 425,000 users don't mind at all. You people should get with the program and side with the majority. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends
