As a student we were playing a game called Fuzzy duck with some Englishmen. It was utterly silly.

I actually spelled it wrong. "Fuzzy Wuzzy". It is like "ring around the rosy". The origin of such rhymes is nothing that little kids would understand or should even know before they are old enough to understand the situation at the time. What bothers me is that most adults do not know where such rhythms come from. They are just as ignorant as the kid I use to be.

I remember when I first heard that rhyme. I was a kid and there was a piece of soap shaped like a bear that grew hair as you used it. Of course it was just a marketing ploy based on the rhyme - the soap shank as you used it and the embedded hairs seamed to grow. Fuzzy Wazzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wazzy had no hair, Fuzzy Wassy wasn't Fuzzy, Wassy. At least that was how I remember it. I found out who the Fuzzy Wazzy's were years ago - think, charge of the light brigade and yes, you can find references to the soap online. If you have nothing else to do, go ahead and look it up. :)

It was just the fist thing that popped out of my head. If anyone is actually interested; all they have to do is lookup "Fuzzy Wuzzy".
