Masks either work or they do not work

I was invited to a restaurant yesterday morning for breakfast. There were 4 of us at a table. There wasn't 6 feet between the chairs. And nobody ate with a mask on. To follow your train of thought: I've noticed some people were using hand sanitizer on their way out. What message does this send...?

SARS, MERS, avian flu, swine flu, all their yearly variations...somehow we've made it this far. The difference now is that nobody has a backbone anymore, and nobody wants to be held accountable. If you're instructed by politicians to follow guidelines, and you don't, then it's on you if someone gets infected - they're off the hook, so they're happy. That's why we're doing this. Somewhat of a pretense that it wasn't parallel enough. No point to it - certainly it did nothing to enhance your original premise or the response. Basically, as if you were hoping to find some technicality by which you could (pretend) to write the whole reply off. Beware - this could well become a pattern.

No. I agreed.  You people read too much into what I say. Stop adding your own bias in. My original point was that masks are not the "end-all" that many have claimed they were. And to enforce social distancing proves that masks aren't the "end-all". That's all.

We had a coworker come to work for an entire day with symptoms. Her manager finally realized it and sent her home. She tested positive. No one else in the office got it even though she likely had it on her for at least a couple of days. On a scale of 1-10 of apocolyptic viruses, this thing is a 2. It's just not as bad as everyone wants to make it. If people are freaking out this much about a 2, what will happen when we have a 7 or 8? People will die just from anxiety.

Let me repeat that; no one made the claim that masks give full protection. Shaking hands has been discouraged since the outbreak - how does a mask help you with that? It's not a hazmat suit. (Although I would recommend throw-away plastic gloves depending on what you need to touch - and no guarantees there either, just like condoms). And again; a mask is not for your protection; it won't be sterile long, and it doesn't protect you from people who sneeze in your eyes. It does limit the travel-distance of air from the person who wears it. So yes, despite our governments' claim that they don't, they do work. Not for protection, but against spreading. That's why we distance. Both don't guarantee that you won't get sick; if a sick person sneezes on a railing, and you touch the railing and scratch your eyelid you may still get infected. Nope. I'll say it again. People have claimed that masks are a solution and clearly they are not. And by admitting you need social distancing you are also admitting that masks are not the solution. It's just that simple.

There is no solution. Masks and social distancing make transmission harder. As do plastic gloves and condoms. None proposed them as a solution. (And please don't wear condoms all the time). Well, not none. Media gets money for their headlines. If you believe the media you already a lost soul. Masks are not a solution. Full-body-condoms aren't a solution. Eventually you take that thing off and need to shit, and most people do not own a private shithouse. If we did, that'd be a bigger problem; we need to be attacked by germs. You're right in that. Any way to prove a point is valid from my point of view; but quickly disqualifies one*. Main point is; even if you are wrong, you are right (after some time and learning, which is called progress). You doubt, even yourself. So you look for arguments and learn. I'd vote for you; you proven you learn; most of us don't. You improve, with each iteration. And yes, I'm not quite "there"; took a sleeping pill and "some" pain killers.. and maybe took them again. Dunno how much today. We loose count quickly. ..but even ONE of you would make a difference in my government. Just one that dares ask and acts; one that thinks, regardless of consequences, one that dares defy the current ideas. Regardless of media, one that dares to ask. And in 225, we have NONE. *)Mood swings. I'm in a fighting mood, and this should have escalated few posts ago. Stop being reasonable, gimme a reason to burn you down to your ancles.
