kids are like kittens. When you don't have one they sure look cute. and you know everything needed to deal/raise with them. The reality though is something entirely the opposite. Also, it seems you can't give either away. At least not to an adult with a working brain.

If anyone out there does, we can drop them off tomorrow?

I know you're joking (and it's pretty funny  ), but I really don't want kids and it's a bit of a taboo. People are like "just wait until you meet a woman who does" or "just wait until you're a bit older." I've learnt not to answer the "why" question because people get offended and might call you names, like selfish, childish, narrow minded and that sort of stuff. Or, another "favorite" of mine, people will list all the things they love about kids, that I clearly don't. I know a woman who once said "they keep saying such stuff until you're about 40, after that point people will assume you can't have children so they won't ask because they don't want to make it awkward." You might be wondering why I'd mention it at all, it's because having kids is the default and people always talk about "just wait until you have kids of your own." It's even worse on dating apps, where women my age (early 30's) ask me if I want kids even before properly introducing themselves  I've always considered The Netherlands as pretty open-minded and although it's less open-minded than I thought it was, I've understood that other countries are even worse. Like in Israel, I've heard, you're just out of the game if you don't want at least multiple children (don't know if that's true though). I don't really have a point with this rant, I just wanted to raise some awareness that some people really don't want children and that's okay! :D

Michelle had a son before I met her, unfortunately he had a genetic disease and died young. She arrived in my life already sterilized so as not to let it happen again. Suits me fine!

Sander you are correct. Everyone is different. and to each their own. I actually do have 3 children. and even though I thought I did ok raising them. I would not wish the pain of raising them on anyone. IF you don't want kids. YOU ARE NOT BEING Selfish. They are a huge commitment. I just don't even say anything along those lines of "just wait until you have kids". I might ask if one has kids just to try to relate life experiences with said person. But if they don't have kids I move onto the next life experiences match to have a conversation. I am not in the game of fixing someone elses life. Mine is screwed up enough. The ones that cause me heart ache are those that cannot and want them. Or those that didn't want them but were forced into the situation. That is not good for any of the parties.

I say you have it backwards - parents think kids are cute, especially their own; I can't say I've ever seen any kid I thought was particularly cute. George Carlin at least had the balls to say it out loud: they're ugly, they look alien and they look deformed. Downvote away.

If you don't want them, don't have them. But you'll miss out on the best personal growth you could ever have if you don't raise kids. But it's your decision and I don't care one way or the other.

You're not all wrong; Israel is very much a child-oriented society. Most Israeli couples (of whatever religion) want at least some children, and it is rare in my experience to find a couple that admits that they do not any children.
