Just got my new dev box today (dual 3.06 GHz Xeons with HT, 1 GB, 128 MB vid, 15k RPM SCSI). My old box (dual 1.7 GHz Xeons, 768 MB, 32 MB vid, 10k RPM SCSI) was frickin' fast. I just compiled our project on both machines, starting at the same time, and... <KungPow> Crap, man! It just doesn't seem possible! </KungPow> The new machine smoked the old machine. Tomorrow I'll have to actually time it to see what the time difference is, but I can tell already that it's quite substantial. I'm stoked. :-D 'Nite, all.

Where did you get it and how much did it cost. I am in the market soon for a new home PC. Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 Were you different as a kid? Did you ever say "Ooohhh, shiny red" even once? - Paul Watson 11-February-2003

What the heck are you working on that you need so much computing power??? Nuclear bomb simulation or something? :) There is a difference in knowing the path and walking the path.

Dell. My employer has a volume discount agreement with them, though, so the price was probably a lot less than retail.
