I have noticed that our application architecture has become a lot more stable this year, with fewer new fads being introduced. Is this because (a) there are fewer software conferences this year or (b) the executives have not been exposed to airline magazine wisdom as much?

speaking for a friend...I know of a decision in a company to outsource a particular application through meeting someone on a flight. Lets just say it didn't end well for the application.
