Hi Guys, I suspect that I may have a faulty memory chip. Is there any software I can use to test memory? Thanks (2b || !2b)

There are several programs out there (I can't think of any off the top of my head) that will test your memory. The problem is, that they don't always get all of it. To test it properly, you really need a hardware tester. Failing that, you can get another stick of memory, and replace yours one by one until you find the bad one. -- Paul "I drank... WHAT?"

Dear James, I do understand the trouble a faulty memmory stick can cause. I had the same thing a while ago and it took me ages to pinpoint the problem. Believe me, a faulty memmory chip was the last thing that crossed my mind. Then I came across this temporarly free program DocMemmory. You need a bootdisk where you put the low level testing software on. This will tell you if your memmory stick is broken. Watch out! It will only tell you wether the stick as a whole is broken. To know exactly what chip on the stick has gone bananas, you need a (expensive!) hardware tester. You can find the program on www.simmtester.com I hope this was of any help. yours, filip_govaerts@hotmail.com

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. The memory is the first thing that crossed my mind since I remembered reading about similar problems that I am having right here on CP. I changed the mem chip and all seems fine for now. I still want to get the chip tested to make sure that it was the memory not something esle that might crop up again next week. (2b || !2b)
