The imoji click has been around long enough to be modified, updated, and refined. I find it incredible they you've not tried to see the result of trying a second clicked selection. I also find it incredible, although not impossible, that you haven't observed their reflection in rep-points, both for the clicker (1) and for the poster (various). So perhaps your real experiment is to see if any of will believe you ( . . . ever again . . . ).

Literally only thought of it while I was typing the post and only because I wrote the bit about a 1 in 12 choice that made me question if that was actually just a single choice. I just assumed it would be 1 per user (like voting) and had never before thought to test it. Or even, perhaps I did test it before and just forgot I did... it's hardly a life changing memory I will always cherish!

Had no idea. I don't much care for my reputation points so I never notice them change. It's not like that "36.2K" at the top of my screen changes often enough for me to take any interest in it. In fact, I was fairly certain I had read a post at some point on the lounge with someone saying users don't get any rep for them. I must have mis-remembered that though as I have no reason to doubt you. It's also interesting that you suggest the poster gets different points depending on which reaction is used... they seems a very strange choice in my opinion. So there you have it, you have had 2 "incredible" experiences in such a short space of time. You're welcome! I wonder how that makes you react? ;P P.S. If it is possible, I am willing to donate any rep gained from this post to a nominated charity. Do we do "bounties" on here?

Indeed as I just tested it on your post. On reflection it's likely I had observed that back when they first appeared, but just never made a mental note of it. And while I am here... thanks for taking part  Although it turns out I do get a little rep for the reactions, so apologies if you feel cheated in any way. But you also get some! :-D

My clicks were a bit random, but it did demonstrate the answer.

You know, in a different context: 'you get some for me and you'll get a little, too' sounds all too much like a kick-back scheme. No Politics in the Lounge !

A bit of an experiment here, and what better way to get people involved than with a generous dollop of click-batey title :-D I am interested in seeing how well the UI handles a post that has all (or most of) the reactions selected. For those that don't know, there is a button just to the left of this post that allows selecting 1 of the 12 available emojis. Can you select more than one per user? Good question, I have no idea! As far as I am aware I gain no reputation or other benefit from reactions on this post, other than to satisfy my curiosity. So this isn't some "farming trick". UPDATE Apparently we do get rep from reactions. I promise to use any donations responsibly :~ It would also be fun to see how easy it is for "voters" to keep the selections balanced, though I expect the lounge isn't active enough for it to be too difficult to keep them at 1 vote per reaction. UPDATE This part is a bit pointless now as I realised it's very easy to change your reaction, which makes it very easy to keep them balanced (assuming that is your aim of course).

The experiment went well and we got all the reactions on the board. There was also an upvote which is nice to see on there too as it takes even more space up. Everything seems to fit well (as expected really), but it was interesting to see how the hover panel coped with having 18 reactions. It just shows 10 of them (I assume most recent) and then indicate how many others as a single line of text. Which I feel is a good decision as you wouldn't want a huge panel that never stops growing. On my mobile phone it doesn't seem to cope quite as well. Not sure if CP has different CSS for mobile sites so that might explain why it is how it is. I also noticed that the reactions don't actually show unless you are logged in. Which seems a bit strange as to why that should matter (as I can see votes without logging in). Anyway, thanks again for those that took part
