I will freely admit I still have a worn out copy of K&R book. like to get similar book to learn about computer networking. My goal is to became human Enigma machine - in other words - became computer security analyst. Basically tired of dealing with "customer support " of my internet provider. Please - real books , no "click this and click that " ... and watch for smoke. Less than 200 pages... No Utube either...

YouTube isn't a book. It's easy to tell: a total lack of pages, an overdose of total rubbish.

That strikes me as an unrealistic goal. A better goal would be to learn the basics first.

At a mere 200 pages, there's no way a book on this huge topic will do any serious amount of diving into it. Why the page limit?

Sorry, but you won't be able to find such a magic book. In networking, and specially with network security, it is all hands-on learning, it will take years of experience, with success and lots of failures to learn what you are doing. Should be doing. Or not.

I got simple network code running fairly quickly using the microsoft website documentation for the language I was using. C# at that time. That was even easier than reading a book about it.
