USB Memory Drives

I bought a new toy today. I broke down and got a 256MB USB drive (you know, those little keychain deals). It really is a toy since I don't have a specific use for it. I thought I might keep a backup-backup of my source code, but that is rather bland. I also thought about putting some of my old DOS games on there (remember Pool Of Radiance) and run them from it. Anybody have one of these and know of a really cool thing to do with them?

It's so much more reliable to exchange data from one laptop to the next, than using infrared. It holds more space than floppies. It is more compact than carrying a crossed cable. Thanks, Wes

i have a little 64MB one. i use it for really sensitive stuff, like license generators and stuff, when i travel. if the laptop gets stolen, that's one thing. but if all key-gens get stolen, i'm in trouble. :( -c To vote with no response is to follow the way of the coward.

I use mine daily to back up the source code I worked on that day and bring it home, as well as any large-ish download. It beats the hassle of launching some burning software at the end of the day even though CD-RW has the larger capacity. OTOH I don't need to burn a full 700MB every day.

Get a bootable Linux distro. Use it for machine recovery, and to impress you friends. IIRC, there's even a bootable Linux that cames with MAME and several ROMs and is around 200Mb. ORACLE One Real A$#h%le Called Lary Ellison

Crossed cables are useful for 2 person impromptu LAN parties though. :rolleyes:

You mean Knoppix?
