My cat tends to do it a lot. Stands up and wees backwards. It can be a sign of crystals in the bladder, but not in his case. (I suspect he thinks he's human and has seen me wee standing up). (too much information? :-O ) Anyway we now have to surround his litter tray with others stood on end to stop him weeing up the wall. On the plus side, as it just gets caught in the tray, we save on litter. On the down side, it doesn't smell great. :(
