Trying to sign up for a federal govt account... Long story short, to link to another account to link to vacc records (which I already have on paper, but that's not good enough for the state...) Signup process: 0. take a side track off the login page to signup 1. enter email address so they can send a confirmation code 2. enter code and proceed ... Well, out of three attempts today, I finally received two codes, the second and quicker one in about 70 minutes. At least that time I had left the browser tab open.. but the session had expired after an hour.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Yep - not just Oz that has that problem. I had similar troubles with the UK systems as well. Bear in mind that these things are written by the friends of elected officials lowest bidder and they don't expect the volumes of traffic they get. "It works fine here with both my friends logged in ..." :sigh:

Yep, today is mini-"freedom day" here, when fully vaxed people can start doing things again. But to check in anywhere you need proof... And they couldn't have possibly anticipated the demand. Brought to you by the same mob as the 2016 Census[^]

" when fully vaxed people can start doing things again." Then we have Singapore with some of the highest vaccination rates in the world: be careful out there.

I know, but I can now visit one of my sons and hug my g'daughters for the first time in ages. My other son will have to wait until December on the current schedule. And we're all in the same state... Certainly not going to run wild.

Only 70 minutes? The last time I had to make a government account, which wasn't that long ago, I could only get a code by snail mail :wtf: I needed that account now, but I had to wait at least two business days X|

Wow! The government imposes travel paper requirements then makes the documents hard to get... But I’m sure they only have your best interests at heart🙄!

If you can't laugh at yourself - ask me and I will do it for you.

Yeah I saw that on ABC News. The security models of all the gov't apps are damaged, if not completely broken. Example: A browser can ask Android if the device is lockable (PIN, swipe pattern, face etc) and if so, allow access to its saved passwords. (I had to temporarily put a PIN on my wife's browsing tablet to retrieve a password.) But ServiceNSW insists on a PIN to unlock the app even on a lockable device. Adds no security at all, just creates frustration. It's actually fewer taps to use a standalone QR reader and then tell it to open in browser... And don't get me started on their UI design (No, I do not want to put my DL on it to enable one-stop ID theft!) or their crap QR scanner. or their battery hogging. QR code tattoos, anyone?
