Oh, and I should add that I have tried umpteen browsers over the years - some are/were trojans, like Brave, others - despite being chrome based - are often not really compatible. Some, like Opera, still struggle with compatibility even after changing engines.

I was perhaps a little harsh, but Brave has certainly had its moments: https://ethr.medium.com/stop-using-brave-browser-now-1d8b6afcb609[^] or Brave browser: The bad and the ugly | ZDNet[^] No browser is perfect, but I think the 'preferential' treatment Brave gave to itself (re it's internal credit system) rather spoils it for me. This is the kind of thing you switch away from the likes of Edge, IE etc to avoid.

Ok I knew about those, for me it's not an issue. I don't care about bitcoins, I don't click on ads. On Android it's easy on the battery and data consumption, on PC it helps masking site ads without triggering the AdBlock revealers on the target sites. It's also quite easy on the RAM, though I prefer Firefox I didn't install it on my newest PC for now - FF has some nifty plugins though.

I developed a PHP web page that helps me track the time I spend on projects and bill it to my customers. Using that web page on Edge was super slow (at least 2 seconds waiting after each click), using Vivaldi was super fast. That made me have it installed to use my web page. This said, some months ago, an Edge update made that browser as fast as Vivladi with my page, so I uninstalled it and now I use only Edge. It did what it was supposed to do and faster than what I used as my daily driver, but now it has no sense for me.

Use it for ages, since it's Chromium inside it doesn't have compatibility problems like Firefox, feels faster and sleeker than Chrome and adds a lot of nice features on top. The only con I know for now is that Google is trying to ban other browsers than Chrome itself from it's sync service[^] so if you really need that it may be a no go for you

Mikee should try new things! I've been using Vivaldi for over 4 years as a primary browser. It is based on Chromium and I've had no problems with page rendering, and it's successfully installed the extensions I've tried. Apparently extensions that use the original Chromium I/F may not work if it's something Vivaldi changed. Built-in ad, pop-up, and tracker blocking caught my initial attention. Bookmark management is superior to other browsers I've tried, and the syncing works flawlessly IME. Tab and session management are superior. I tried the email client, didn't care for it and haven't checked it in years, and haven't used the calendar.

Been using it for years, it's created by the people who developed Opera back when it was an independently maintained browser back before they got sold to a Chinese company and were all unceremoniously sacked while the new corporate overlord was busy slapping an red O icon onto Chromium. Vivaldi on contrast is Opera's spiritual successor and has a lot of the customization features that made old Opera unique.

Well, it’s not a new browser, but perhaps new to you. :) I loaded it several years ago (6+?). It didn’t use standard hot keys, and I saw no earth-shattering advantages, so unloaded it and never looked back. Good luck, though. I didn’t see anything wrong with it then; I saw it mentioned in a recent article, so I guess there’ll be some renewed interest in Vivaldi.

Tried it, it felt good, but if you can't install extensions you're used to, then it's losing scores. Staying with Opera and Firefox.

I used brave for about 2 years, before getting some crash issues. on their built in featuers: Built in mail client - why, sounds like an Microsoft IE idea Chrome does not have custom search engine - what, am i missing something, chrome allows to add differnt search engines Tab Grouping - chrome shoving it down my throht on android, I hate it (more likly not used to it, and made as a default instead of option, and getting previous "open in new tab" is a hack) Macros - because chrome and firefox dont have add on system allowing some every far reaching modifications Does not track you behaviour - you know how Apple says roughly ""we do not allow 3rd party tracking"", yeah that says Apple tracks you, but they don't share the data. But them tracking allows at LEAST them to be able to improve the product based on actually measured metrics instead of what people say they do. This browser saying no tracking, is either purposefully misleading, ignorantly misleading, or they have zero logging (tracking) to be able to improve the product for the benefit of users or resolving issues which is not usefully Notes Manager - ok this is a must have now ;P

Been using it for the last six months and it seems perfectly fine. I was able to install all the extensions I normally use and it's very configurable. Went to Vivaldi because Firefox was having some problems, it locked up computer when there was a streaming problem.

I've never used it, but I am all in favor of having options available to break free of the "top three". I personally use Pale Moon. It was originally a Mozilla fork, but now has its own rendering engine. Only a small number of sites using deficient browser detection don't work with it. ---------- Money makes the world go round ... but documentation moves the money.

I use Vivaldi a bit on Android, it's good. But my primary on Android is Opera. On desktop, I use Firefox almost exclusively.
