In 1985 Carl Sagan predicted exactly where we would be right now on Climate Change.

Wow! :omg: A true great. Not only at understanding a complex problem, but explaining in simple terms what this means to us - and what we need to do about. Sadly, the world didn't listen to him. This is probably the most valuable way, ever, to spend 16 minutes of your day. Carl Sagan testifying before Congress in 1985 on climate change - YouTube[^]

Apparently not simple enough that policitians (and many, many civilians) would understand it correctly... :sigh: :sigh: :sigh:
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Yep, whatever is the key  To be honest for me that means something like 'dont post anything' here in the Lounge  And no, I didn't make this up, it's a rule, see Lounge above ;)

It says trolling specifically. It does not say you cannot discuss the climate. But yes, it's a topic that can become trollish very fast.

Sadly the worship of money overrides the self preservation instinct.

I confess, I have never looked at the posting rules, (rules aren't my strong suit! :-D ), but I'm surprised "climate" is off limits. Is it a contentious issue? Surely it's about as contentious as smoking! My aim was to highlight the insight, vision and brilliance of Carl Sagan, rather than push any agenda. Why would I? I'll be long dead before droughts, fires and floods have devastated large parts of the planet. Not my problem! :~ So if I, in any way, accidentally, suggested that the climate was in crisis and threatening our very existence, I apologise unreservedly. ;)

Yes, climate became contentious, thanks to fat_boy.
Cheers, Vikram.

It's always a matter of whoever gets there first, isn't it? He was also declared to be the first so-called "green billionaire". It's no coincidence. He saw the opportunity, and has been [investing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation\_Investment\_Management) heavily ever since in industries that stand to profit the most from breakthroughs in sustainability. Can't say I blame him.

...and that's why, on the [No Agenda](https://www.noagendashow.net/) podcast, they keep saying Build Back Better - for someone else. They even have a [great jingle](https://dudenamedjames.com/jeff-smiths-build-back-better/) about it.
