Looking forward to devouring it (The Apollo Guidance Computer: Architecture and Operation) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1441908765/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1[^]

That book looks interesting. Have you watched the YouTube channel CuriousMarc? In the last year or two they restored an Apollo Guidance Computer. In the process of that they even got to talk to Don Eyles one of the programmers for the lunar module software. Right now they are checking out the command module S-band transceiver and have it working - didn't even need restoring, it just worked.

That does look very interesting. Ars Technica had an article about it not long ago : A deep dive into the Apollo Guidance Computer, and the hack that saved Apollo 14 | Ars Technica[^] ETA: the article was written by the author of the book.

"They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers! Can I get an amen?"

In the same spirit, in case you missed it, BBC World Service - 13 Minutes to the Moon, Season 1: The Apollo 11 story[^] has a whole episode dedicated to AGC (Episode 5- The fourth astronaut). Plugin: the whole podcast is very well done (in my opinion at least) and gives me shivers every time I listen to it. Season 2 is about Apollo 13 and is equally good.

Magnesium and rust. One day, I will put a Raspberry Pi in orbit. It won't have Wifi that distance.. so maybe a cable?

As much as I'd enjoy reading that, I'd better not. The last time I got mad  about the manned space program, things got ugly... The restraining order keeping me 1000 yards away from William Proxmire's grave is still in effect.

Would work, in theory. So. Now I has to try. Those LED's better not blind a commercial flight! ..maybe a need a permit for a hobby like that? Ehr, never gave that any thought.
