Starlink Delays!
-
Yep, I ordered Starlink middle of this year and was suppose to get my kit in November. But now my account page has been updated and changed to "Starlink expects to expand service in your area by mid 2022." I've been waiting for nearly 6 months. I am not sure if it's related to the chip shortage but they suddenly added 6-8 months to my wait time. See here[^] I posted some questions about it over on /r/Starlink but mostly got vague and sometimes rude responses. Is there anyone else here on codeproject getting Starlink? If so what has your experience been like? Thanks, -David Delaune

I have Starlink set up here in Dublin,Ireland - the kit arrived about 2 months ago and I think that was 6 months after my order. Speed is good and the kit is rugged (we just had a big storm here but it was not affected) but it is quite heavy and does need a good "view of the sky".

Do you know if this would have any effect on my order delivery date? I was told that I would need to survey the sky around my property so I installed the Starlink app on my phone. There are no locations anywhere on my property that have a 100 degree unobstructed field of view. I walked all around but I have too many oak trees. Someone told me that they were giving priority to orders with a confirmed installation coordinate.

I ordered it in March and received it in May. I really, really, like it. We have been living in rural areas for quite some time and had to use other satellite-based-ISPs and all of them were awful. Starlink is considerably different and quite good. Latency is now under 100ms where before it was at least 2 seconds. It is really nice getting 10MBPS downloads too and that is mega BYTES per second. Now I don't mind downloading the latest 2.5GB update for CUDA and 700MB video drivers. I hope it works out for you.

It seems unlikely - I had not downloaded the app before mine was delivered.
