I have been with GoDaddy for a zillion years I am no longer able to speak to a living human there. I am now losing domains (and yes, I know it's my responsibility; that's why I used GoDaddy, who had living humans [who, in the past, would] call me and speak to me and prevent those losses). Godaddy has eliminated those humans. Any attempt to initiate a spoken voice conversation with GoDaddy produces wait times of 38 minutes and 70 minutes (the actual numbers from my last two calls). The only other place of which I am aware is NameCheap. I am learning to forget google; the results were, well, not what I call answers. That's why I'm now asking here. Private or public responses here are fine. Questions 1. What other registrars are out there besides NameCheap ? 2. Can you honestly get a living speaking human at NameCheap ? I just spent three minutes at their website and couldn't find a phone number; the closest thing I found was "Live Chat" Does anyone have any experience with other registrars ? Or is this the new business model: Pay money, never speak to a human.

I use Sectorlink and never had a problem. Not sure how easy it is to get a human on the phone though.

I've used 123-reg.co.uk in the past, it's all online, but you do get emails to let you know there is an expiry approaching.

You don't have to be mad to live here [UK], but it helps.

I've been using a (local ) ZA company called Frikkadel Portal Home - Frikkadel.co.za[^] for most of my domains, as they are friendly etc. and mostly cheaper than the rest - okay, never needed to call, but the support had been great thus far! OF domains they don't have/support, I've been using ovh.ie ... except the .ga domain I have going through another freenom registrar.. but that's a play domain for me :)=)

There's also Route 53 in AWS. Might be handy if you already have an account there. You also get free SSL as long as it's hosted in AWS.

I've been using qth.com for several years. This might not be the answer for large corporations but the owner is a HAM radio enthusiast and has always been very responsive to any issues. They are also good about sending out several warning emails if your name registration, hosting, etc., is close to expiration.

Not what you are looking for, but I have used Namecheap for the last few years. Never had to call, but I have set my domains to autorenew and it works fine.

Dumped GoDaddy a few years ago. Use NameCheap for my Registrar. They notify me by email when I need to renew. My domains are no longer hosted by GoDaddy. I use Hostway for 2 domains and NameCheap for one. I'm pleased with the service from all 3.

You can purchase domains through Cloudflare now. They don't have all TLD's, but are constantly adding new ones. They also have very little markup over the base ICANN fees.

I left GoDaddy in 2010 and went to Arvixe.com for hosting and domain registration. Arvixe is not as 'fancy' as GD, but they provide just enough for me. And they do send me notices when a domain is going to expire - starting about 30-days out - even though my domains do auto-renew. All of my domains are registered through them but not all are hosted with them. There are a lot of ways to register these days. It's might be just a matter of if you want to bundle additional services. I have one domain with web hosting at Arvixe. I have a domain (from Arvixe) which I use with NoIP (no-ip.com) that forwards to my home server. And I've got a VPC with Linode that uses another domain which was registered through Arvixe. Each of those services also offer domain registration. Also wanted to add that in my experience, most services do use an online ticket system these days, rather than a phone number. In fact, personally, I'm more suspicious when they do offer a phone number. But, either way, you should still expect personalized service. Hope you find something that works to your liking. Looks like you have lots of good suggestions from this nice community.

                            Regards, -boB-)

I use to be with godaddy and bailed 10 years ago. I host at Hostgator.com, which uses launchpad.com as registrar. I have been able to reach a human anytime I tried. I think my longest wait was 20 minutes, usually less than 10. Their chat system also works extremely well, typically shorter wait. Auto-renew and email notices when coming due.
