Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it. Happy holidays to all. Himself and I were planning on spending today with the in-laws, but we got a once-in-a-blue-moon white Christmas. It just doesn't happen here, but it happened here good and hard today. My in-laws live in the middle of a 20 acre plot of forest, itself nestled just south of the middle of nowhere. Getting there in good weather requires navigating a switchback. Getting there any other time requires all wheel drive. And in the snow? What a mess. We may try if the snow backs off, to at least have dinner with them. We didn't really plan for this. Oh well. Maybe chains and determination will see us through. If not, and we end up stuck out there, then we'll be on satellite internet and maybe even generator power until the roads clear up. :~

Growing up in the mountain (until 12 years old, when I moved to much warmer climate) snow capped Christmas conjure the innocent happiness of youth for me! :D

If you decide to drive under these conditions, be careful and Godspeed to you.

Actually, the weather got worse, and we canceled the whole thing. We had a scare for a bit because we hadn't heard from my father in law, who was headed home, but it turns out he made it, but was helping some stranded motorists in the area using his tractor and wasn't near his phone. The little private roads out there aren't so good. Anyway, it all worked out. Good thing there are 11 more days of christmas though, because this one was a bust! X|

I live high up in the rockies. Snow starts around Halloween but not this year. Our 5 world-class ski resorts got oh a few inches here and there but Friday morning we woke up to a fresh foot for Christmas. ......And a snow blower that won't run.

I just managed to travel to the deep south of the Netherlands where my mother lives on a clear day. Did not want to drive in the icy weather conditions that were forecasted for today :-\

Yah. Got a note from my sister who lives in Homer AK - she just topped out at 5 feet of snow. Luckily she is now working from home until they lay her off

Thar's only two possibilities: Thar is life out there in the universe which is smarter than we are, or we're the most intelligent life in the universe. Either way, it's a mighty sobering thought. (Porkypine - via Walt Kelly)
