Accidentally Discovering Shortcuts
-
I'm a fan of keyboard shortcuts and use them regularly with VS and VS code. One of them is shift+ctrl+d for Ghostdoc to add comments to a method. Today I accidentally pressed shift+ctrl+t and discovered the find file feature :) I should probably just have a look at the shortcut cheatsheet :-O I also recall activating a f.lux color scheme that turned my display a strange hue of pink iirc. That was a fun one to track down, since I didn't know that I caused it by pressing some hotkey combination. Have you found any cool / handy shortcuts by accident?

I accidentally discovered that F11 in Chrome switches it to full screen. And only F11 will switch it back out of full screen. ESC doesn't do it!
The difficult we do right away... ...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Not sure we are limited to VS Shortcuts? I just installed Firefox and do not want to search from the address bar. So I discovered that if I change the home page view to this URL DuckDuckGo — Privacy, simplified.[^] I get what I want but the Pocket Shortcuts are removed OK So I created a Bookmark named it Firefox Pocket and gave it his URL about:home. Added the letter "H" to the keyword field. Now just enter H in the address bar and press ENTER and presto magic my Pocket shortcuts show up. As for VS my favorite is F9 and F7

Grandma finds this one all the time. Half my phone calls with her include the phrase "F11".

SQL server management studio, SSMS, if you want selected text upper case, ctrl + shift + U

Isn't that a standard key for full screen? Firefox, Vivaldi, VLC, Featherpad, MPC-HC and many others use it.

My keyboard has some shortcut that swaps ASDF for the Arrow keys and vice versa. In-game I hit it often enough to screw up my match and infrequent enough that I can't remember how to undo it! ARGGGG, disable shortcuts by default ppl!!! Let advanced users find them on their own.

Yes it is. But she only uses Chrome, so there you go. Being 91 means you already have a lot to remember already.

Undo in region. I use emacs as exclusively as I can. ("Region" is emacs-speak for selection.) C-x C-u is convert to upper case, but I once left out the second C and discovered I could undo changes to just a segment of my file and ignore more recent changes to somewhere else in the file. Now it's on my top 5 reasons to use emacs when someone asks.

And what about the middle mouse button that closes the tabs? It's not a real shortcut, but it's really useful and time-saving. It also works with the Chrome and Edge tabs.

Never stumbled across any cool/handy ones, only ones that I wish I hadn't found. One of the most annoying, because it can easily occur accidentally, is hitting ALT in an Excel spreadsheet.
