They've been officially Knighted by the Mongolian government for having exported Mongolian music abroad. I recently bought the album just to use it while working out - I hope my neigbors like it :D

Garmarna? Haven't heard their name for years. Nor have I played my couple of Garmarne CDs for years. Your mention of them made me dig them out. Certainly worth being recalled - although I doubt that they would make a great success with teenagers of today!

With teenagers I think not, but folk is having quite the resurgence, especially between the metal music listeners. Folk / folk metal bands are being founded daily.

My own personal taste has changed towards more vocal sophistication, such as that exposed in Apes and Babes: Baba Yaga[^] (play it at high volume!) Apes and Babes do a lot that is not nordic folk, but nevertheless fascinating vocal performances. If you care for vocal music, you should be aware of the group.
