I hate it... Excel fills it's window title with a lot of functionality. Sometimes it becomes really hard to move an Excel Window :^)
Then maybe you should try an alternative like Softmaker-freeoffice[^] :-\

Is that a problem? I may have a paranoia - but they may be after me nevertheless! So I keep my Internet connection open only when I am actively using the connection. (E.g. I have discovered that every time I write back to disk a Word document, a message is sent to a telemetry server, and I don't know what information that report contains.) So I keep a small 'Networks Connections' window at my desktop: I can double click it when I need Internet functions, and right click/Disable when I go on to other tasks, such as editing Word documents. This NC window is minimized as far as it allows, so the window title hits the minimize/fullscreen/exit buttons. Not even the full title is displayed. But I can move it around, by grabbing it by the title. For Excel, I've only got an old 2013 version, but it works the same: No matter how small I make the window, at least one character of the title line is displayed, and I can drag the window around by that. Maybe newer Excel versions are different.

I admit the change to the Ribbon interface all but killed my expertise in Office. The Ribbon is apparently the result of Microsoft Marketing conducting endless focus groups, but I think it violates common-sense rules of UI design. One such rule is that the interface shouldn't change, but the Ribbon changes according to the width of the application window.

I have a few beefs with Excel, but having the window resize such that it hides some of the most commonly used items (such as filter/sort) is an inconvenience that's easily solved. Spending an hour trying to find out why a vlookup is failing is ridiculous. Apparently, it's not enough to explicitly set the formatting for a column if you have numbers pasted in as text! :doh: Another annoyance is the insistence by a client's payroll clerk that the file extension must be csv and that employee ids must include leading zeroes. The user opens the file om Excel to verify contents, sends to clerk who sends it back complaining that the leading zeroes are missing! :sigh: Alright, enough complaining! I'll give the devil it's due! I use Excel a lot and continue to be amazed at what a powerful program it is. Additionally, imho it's one of the only original office apps that continues to improve as far as features I use. :laugh:

I read between the lines that dragging by an unoccupied part of the window header line works fine. Does it work for the window title field as well, as long as there is some unoccupied, 'draggable', part of the header line, or can you never drag the window by its title field? Well ... I am certainly far away from those who will be debugging this, so I am just suggesting questions you should be prepared for when you report the problem to the appropriate people.

I work with a lot of mechanical and electrical engineers for whom Excel is their only document tool. I've received 100+ page specifications in the form of Excel spreadsheets. Between this misuse, and the fact the stupid :elephant:ing app still won't let you run multiple instances on separate monitors, Excel is not my favorite Office app.

Keyboard controls should work, I believe. Alt + Spacebar -> Move and arrow keys.

delete this;All engineers love Excel! And they make considerable messes. Their employers love this devotion because they get free spreadsheets this way. But it costs many millions due to the jumbled cell formulas, among other things that generate errors in designs. I've experienced this many times. I offer software to replace these "free" spreadsheets. No interest whatsoever, because I want $.

I use 2007. It's compatible with Microsoft 365. I got it Free under a multi user license.

It doesn't "move", it does what it thinks it's best. At least on most Linux you can move windows with Alt+mouse from any part of the window, and can move it disregarding screen boundaries: a boon when using magnification or big fonts and the UI is designed by an idiot so that Apply - OK- Cancel are below the screen bottom.

I don't understand, it's totally possible to launch multiple files with Excel or even multiple instances of Excel and move one to a different monitor.

Excel isn't the only toolbar to disappear and it annoys me to no end. Yes the keys work, but that's a lot of key strokes and I am constantly moving windows around. I know, I'll use autohotkey to make the 'windows'key and arrows automatically move the current window in focus. I think the other combo's are taken. :laugh:
