I would strongly suggest that you remove the link to your company from your signature before someone decides you are just a spammer and your account closes ...

CP can do what they like, I don't care. And I'm no spammer, thank you very much. I've been on here for several years and I don't need the likes of you to tell me what to do. You might not be aware of me because I'm not usually active in the lounge, but that's your problem, not mine. I've even contributed a couple of articles, if you had taken the trouble to look, although I'm not particularly proud of EZUTF. My coding skills have improved significantly since then. Paul Sanders http://www.alpinesoft.co.uk "Life is a minestrone" - sure, but what does that actually mean? Oh wait, I've got it. It means it's full of different bits and you have to savour them all. And so you do.

I was off fixing a couple of bikes when the news hit. And shane and Bob just didn't care enough to post. ;P To avoid duplication (because some people are physically hurt by it), I'm just using this as one of the "Hot Threads" in tomorrow's newsletter.

It will make zero difference to my life. I'm not on Twitter, FB or any other social media platform. I value my privacy. And my only interest in Musk, is wondering how such a complete duck got to be so rich!

OK, there might be something in that, but those are extremes, that's not what the movement is really about. And to lump BLM into the same category does not sit well with me. I couldn’t care less. I never signed up for Twitter. I don’t know how to sign up, how to use it. I don’t care if Elon Musk now monetizes Twitter with ads, extra charges for services, etc. I am trying to stay away from social media. As it is, Farcebook is sending me friend requests from friends of friends of friends…..ad infinitum. I don’t know many of these people and I don’t need them as my friends. My life is complete without them. It cannot be more complete with their addition; more complex maybe, but certainly not more complete. God only knows how many FBI or CIA files I am on because of these interconnected spider webs of people who have tenuous if not non-existent connection with me. I really hope someone nukes the data centers of Twitter, Farcebook, Google, Amazon and anybody else who collects data on unsuspecting people.

If people think that allowing one person to be in control of "Free Speech" then they are not thinking clearly. The "Free Speech" he promises will only last until he thinks something posted is not to his liking. And by then it will be too late. Yeah, true free speech would be great but only when it is controlled by all and not when one person controls whether your speech is truely free!

Sorry if I pushed your buttons, that wasn't my intention. I was trying to bring you attention to this: Spam and Abuse Watch Discussion Boards[^] which is where accounts which post site links go to die. Most of them post more links that you, but one is often enough. It is pretty likely that your sig link is going to push other people's buttons - and that you account would be added to that list. And then it would in all likelihood close. Because it is very close to spam: you are "an independent Windows and Mac developer working from home" so adding your URL to every message you post is going to look like spam to quite a lot of trigger-happy members, particularly if they notice the "buy" button on the menu bar ... I think we need some official clarification: @Sean-Ewington Can you advise please?

100% agreed. Would be >100% if possible. I am unapologetically old school when it comes to believing that the government, including the public school system, needs to stay in its lane. Corporations need to stop making asinine decisions that alienate half of their customer base. Special groups need to stop getting bowed down to out of fear. Our colleges and universities need to stop being institutions of socialist propaganda. And finally, (and back on topic), the ultra-liberal movement that espouses "free speech", but has a cow when someone uses free speech to take a stand against what THEY believe, THAT movement needs to be squashed like a bug, and the whole world brought back into reality by social platforms that actually embrace free speech. Say what you want about Elon, but he is indeed a free speech advocate.

Sure, I also fully support feminism. What I don't support are the feminazis who aren't pro-equal rights, but anti-men. The same goes for BLM and LGBTQ+, I fully support equal rights for anyone. What I don't support are the people who abuse these movements and who shout the loudest (which, unfortunately, have become synonymous with the movements). People of color can be racist and I should be able to say so without being called a racist myself. Black people are more likely to commit a crime, that's statistics and not racism (I'm not talking about the problems leading to these statistics, which may well be racism). When we can't call out these facts in fear of being demonized or canceled, we can't solve their underlying problems. The result is that the whole BLM movement has been reduced to "black person good, white person bad" (or the opposite, when you don't agree). Or even "white straight male bad, anything else good." Unfortunately, these movements, be they "left" or "right", are currently polarizing and unconstructive. The same goes for the terms "left" and "right", by the way. You're either the one or the other, there's barely an in-between anymore. Platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have greatly helped in polarizing these movements, yet they change society as a whole. That's why you really should care whose behind these platforms even when you don't have an account.

Thanks Griff, I appreciate the effort to communicate more clearly, and now that I've calmed down a bit I can see that you have a point. You know the way the community here works much better than I do so I should listen to you, and I certainly don't want to offend anyone or come across as some sort of self-serving jerk. So I've added some context to that link (which I should have done a long time ago). Hopefully, that will give a better impression, let me know what you think. I don't see that including the link per-se is an issue, and I don't feel at all guilty for charging money for software I put a lot of time and passion into. It does what it sets out to do and I have a lot of happy users. And now that people know what the link is actually there for, they can ignore it if they have no interest. Paul Sanders.
