Just downloaded an IDE for cough hack wheeze Java...
-
Hey I just downloaded IntelliJ for Java. It's an IDE for Java development. It is pretty cool but it takes longer to load on my 2.53 Ghz processor with 1 meg ram than Windows XP Professional does (Not Joking). Kind of annoys me but I might be taking a Java job soon (depths of depravity, gotta pay my bills). So finally I get to my question. Can anybody possibly recommend an IDE for Java NOT WRITTEN IN JAVA that loads in under 3 minutes? And...And...And... Does not cost so much stinking money. I can get the Sun IDE or MSDN Universal for about the same freaking price or I can get 2 MSDN Universals for the price of one IBM WebGlobe or Spear whatever it is... Please tell me there is a better and cheaper alternative... Rex Winn

take a look at JCreator (www.jcreator.com). There is a free version, and a (cheap) professional version with Debugger. The IDE is written in C++ with BCControls and the fastest you can get zack

I have never used it but a friend of mine has just moved over to eclipse www.eclipse.org[^] He reckons it's really good but i think you need to download some add-ins for screen designer support. Oh, and i think it's free:) Matt
