IKEA is great at making things small! (Claes Ohlsson is even worse, but probably less internationally known). The first ting I do when buying something from IKEA, or CO, is to put the instructions booklet on the scanner, at least at 600 dpi, so that even that 4pt text can be scaled up to something readable. With that digital enlargement I can also increase contrast, e.g. of medium gray printed on a light gray background. I guess that color blind users might want to alter the palette as well; I do not have that need.

Depending on the amount you read, you may think of some arm to hold the glass for you... And maybe a 2 time magnification won't be enough... check it on a scanned page on your computer screen to see how much magnification you need...

I've got that one, only in white. I'm very satisfied with it. :)

I was gonna suggest, if it's just a paragraph or two, that you don't need to hang on, just take a picture with your phone and zoom in. Otherwise yeah, doing a 'proper' job with a scanner may be the way to go.

I have one of these: desktop magnifying glass with light - Google Search[^] The combination of my age, losing my right eye a couple of years ago, and fairly poor vision in the remaining left eye, means I have problems with close-up tasks. The desktop magnifiers are great because then you can use both hands to move whatever you're looking at around.

In my case, it goes to all empty quite fast. My glasses are made for European half liters. I have a taste for English beer(*), and some of it is sold in cans of "Imperial pint" size; 0.568 liters. So I really could use a glass magnifier, to fit an entire can into my glass. Until now, I haven't been able to find one that can do the job, so I probably have to buy new glasses. (*) One Norwegian soccer player, Frank Strandli, spent a year as a professional in England. After returning home, he praised the quality of the English beer, "I think it was called 'pint'".
