Living so long you get old and decrepit, or dying before that happens? But not too young either!

My Dad and his brothers all passed away in their mid 90's. They stopped eating and just faded away. They did their job.

Im 73 and, I am starting to wonder if that is the case. Although, I do need to stick around to take care of my wife and 2 children. Besides, SWMBO tells me that dying is not an option!

Only as long as your expected future income is higher than your life insurance... :-\

Getting old is better than the alternative!

That depends. Old age in reasonably good health - yes. Old age in constant pain and debility - not necessarily. (YMMV)

A dog would have been put down. Tax payers are not allowed such luxuries.

The one freedom you have in all countries is the freedom to commit suicide.

My mom's side of the family all suffered from dementia. She was worried that that was in her future as well. Unfortunately she died from an undiagnosed cancer which metastasized in her brain. They tried to remove it but it came back in 3 weeks very aggressively. She suffered for 3 months with dizziness, nausea and vertical double vision before she passed away earlier this year. :rose: She was 81. One thing I learned from this was if you get vertical double vision (not horizontal) GO SEE A NEUROLOGIST IMMEDIATELY!

It is illegal in most countries, weird as that may sound. In the Netherlands, it is 'theoretic legal'. Just never mention it, or be locked up.

Punishable by death, I presume... I was not referring to assisted suicide, or even to attempted suicide, only to suicide.

That's my option. Not while my parents alive. ..but.. aight, imagine this; having a choice between 30 years of pain, or sweet release? Why should I choose 30 years more of pain?

Your life, your choice. The question is whether you may involve someone else in your suicide. I, personally, believe that this should not be permitted; there is too much danger of a slippery slope. Your opinion may differ.
