Title is "Senior Application Developer 3". Whoo hooo. I might enjoy that. Lets go look at the job description. First line in the job description. This "SQL DBA" position will be....... Seriously HR recuiter idiot. Did you even look at what you are doing before you copied and pasted? One Template does not fit all. Gesh!

I could see it as a position in the DBA department to write the DDL and DML. My experiences with DBA's is that they do nothing for 6 months while bad-mouthing the application's system design ... until the project "champion" (if any) kicks them in the butt.

You should have read it further.

This SQL DBA position will be demoted and moved to basement and the Senior Application Developer 3 will be hired in that position. They get a corner office with a view and private coffee machine, fridge full of beer and cheese. DBAs are only allowed to look from outside. If they attempt to come into your office, you can complain to HR and we will remove their desks. Let's see how they work then. LOL. Oh yes, you would be working on something that you feel is the best and anyone complaining will be made SQL DBA.

No no no. All of you are thinking wrong. Let me help you. :) Your next question is, "What is the pay?" If the answer is, "Well, we're not ready to discuss that..." your answer is "I'm not a whore, and you're an idiot. Call me when you are serious." Try it. It worked for me. lol

On a more serious note, than some of the other replies, I must say: 1. I have been applying for a job for about a month now. 2. About 85% of them are like that. 3. They require years of experience in obscure languages and frameworks I've never heard of before. 4. Job boards advertise positions that are already filled, or don't exist at all. 5. Many recommend jobs like checkout clerk. They don't check your resume when they have it on file and match you to a job that matches your skills. 6. There is REAL age discrimination against both old and young candidates. Finally, I could not agree with you more.:mad::mad::mad: Really finally, I do VB6 to C#/VB.net conversions, and SQL Server design and maintenance. In case you know of anything please let me know.

I recently posted a resume online; now it seems 30 different agencies have picked it up. My Inbox is flooded with job postings daily, even weekends. The problem is, not one of those agencies has ever read my resume. None of the postings are remotely related to anything I do, although I did think about driving a truck once. Morons all!!!

Recently I've not had this problem. My current place literally said "We'll give at least 10% more than you get now" without even knowing what my current salary is. There's a lot of money chasing talent these days. I don't think that these good times are going to last, though.
