Outlook can be a PITA, but ...

... sometimes - just sometimes - it does something clever. I wrote an email, starting with:
Quote:
Your ref: XXXXXXXXX Hi Sally! Attached please find a copy of ...
And when I'd finished, I pressed SEND. And it came back with a dialog: "You haven't attached a document to this mail: do you want to send it anyway?" That's sensible programming! Well done MS!

Feature is present in Gmail for some years now.

I've had a couple cases where I used the word 'attached' in an email but not in the context of including an attachment. The first time when Outlook asked me if I was forgetting to attach a document I thought "Why in the world would it ask me that?"

Thunderbird does it too. Just about any word with a root of "attach" will provoke the nag. It's saved me a couple of times, but more often a distraction. In the fire service, we talk about attaching resources to incidents...

not sure if MS product do, but gmail has things like "oh, you mentioned meeting and a date and time, would you like to set calendar entry"
Don't know - I use Google for calendar & contacts, because they sync automatically across all my devices (desktop / surface / android phone). And I get alerts half an hour before by default just to remind me I'm supposed to be somewhere else ... :-D

Outlook has done it for years too.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius

On the other hand, I just now ranted about ctrl-F not being "find/search" in Outlook.

That's been around for quite some time now. Also if you send an email full of insults to an email address other than yours within the same domain it also asks for confirmation if you really do want to send swear words in your near environment. [satan]wonders how many will fall for this, gnark.[/satan]

If he mentioned that he bought a new sofa he would most likely see ads to buy a new sofa. No ads for for cushions, carpets or other furniture until their purchase has also been mentioned. You'll always see Netflix ads.

GMAIL on occasion suggests phrases or sentences whilst I compose also the Subject. I find I rather enjoy its efforts.
