Of course we are: four-hour boiled cabbage, mushy peas, battered saveloy ... the list is endless.

Ah! I see you must have had a Full English Breakfast - unbeatable.

Uuugghhh... I've been to your little island nation... Shepard's Pie and Fish & Chips are the only 2 palatable meals. ;)

Remind me not to come to your house for dinner! You should mention Shepherd's Pie, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, any British breakfast, Steak and Kidney Pie, proper English sausages, proper English (Danish smoked) bacon, bacon butties, sausage butties.... I have to stop now as I am getting terminally hungry! Dammit, I miss good ol' British food! This American crap that has to be "spicy" and "crispy" and "breaded" is killing me - I want to come home, mummy!!!!

A "Full English" would be OK except for the swill they try to pass off as sausage. X|

There is plenty of home grown cuisine that is worth eating. You should come and try it.

The deep-dish casserole pizza is the tourist pizza, what the rest of the world knows Chicago for, but people born and raised Chicago normally don't eat it. REAL Chicago pizza is thin crust, cut into squares.

My last visit was about 5 years ago, in Virginia mostly, but everything was super duper delicious (Yes! I gained a lot of weight here :sigh:). 5 years later, I come back here, this time Chicago, and I've tried from takeouts to fancy dine-ins but everything sucks, and all the places stink. What happened to all the good food?

I'm sure that even British food is not what it used to be - they no longer fry chips in lard, the sausages are "[emulsified high-fat offal tubes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPwQ0PmK9lw)", and some cooks have even been known to use spices other than salt and pepper in their cooking. :omg: :)

The South = great food (Virginia is just barely in the South) The North = they eat what? Seriously, you never see a restaurant with Northern Style cooking.

I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

There's the Michigan delicacy, pasties. Pronounced with short a like in the past, not like the dancer adornments. Some of the most bland, boring food you'll ever eat. They'll defend it by saying that you need to put ketchup (catsup?) on it. On the plus side, our sausage game is excellent and, supposedly, the hamburger was first made in a small city in Wisconsin[^].
