All I'm gonna say is this, I have a Gigabyte gaming laptop that's a few years old but was top of the line when I bought it. I don't game on it, just got it because it was beefy. It's running Win11. I have another business class laptop that's old as dirt. It's running Win10. The fan for the Win10 laptop rarely needs to spin up. The Win11 one feels just as sluggish, in fact more so, than the old laptop. I realize the fan may be related to the graphics card being more beefy, but we're talking about checking email here. Thems just be the facts.

It could be that some applications, like your email, are using the 3D card for no reason. If you have the NVidia tool (or some other tool) you can disable this.

It's the graphics card. My XPS 15 laptop is running Windows 11 and the fans are quiet. Yes, the XPS 15 has two fans and they both run but at a low level. I don't have a high powered graphics card.

I saw that. Microsoft hadn't been saying much about some of their previous updates, but this is a new low. It also took only a few seconds to download, even at my connection speed. If I had to guess, this is one of those instances where previous versions already contained the code, and the update just unblocked it.

I hope its better than the Windows 11 22H2 update I have had several PCs where the operator installed it and found different applications have failed in weird ways. Although some PCs have installed it without obvious problems In the cases that I referred to the applications went back to working when I removed the 22H2 update

I have purposely delayed in migrating our organization to Win 11 just for this sort of thing. I have one single laptop (mine) that I upgraded just to make sure that all of our custom software will run on it successfully (it does), but I am not willing to risk potential O/S related issues all at once on approximately 800 computers that run our software across 14 states. M$ has been horrible at this whole Windows update thing for the last decade, particularly the last few years. We are constantly having to reload printer drivers after Windows updates. It is freaking insane that a Windows update not only breaks printer drivers, but even causes all sorts of weird operational issues even when a new update is simply being downloaded and staged, but no installation yet started.
