a kitten came to my back yard, meowing in the night. this morning my wife found it stays beside our pool pump, no any response. She then gives it some foods and it starts to eat, this kitten does not trust human and stays alert. What can I do? we build a small kitten bed. not sure if it will like it...

My sister started feeding a stray cat and stopped when 50 cats showed up for supper every night. Not a joke.

Kitten alert and wary? People have "adopted" a bobcat kitten before! :)

I was once greeted by a kitten outside my door one cold winter day. Of course I brought him inside. He thanked me by soiling my carpet.

A kitten came to our house on 14th July. Had not even properly opened its eyes. Fed it milk, drop by drop, using a syringe / ink-filler, and slowly it learnt to drink milk from a cup. Named it Koko and gradually introduced it to cat food, and nowadays it goes out and comes back. Now it is a four month old cat. Whenever we dont find it, we call Koko, and it mews from wherever it is.

Step 1; phone your local vets * and ask if anyone's lost a kitten. Step 2; put up a poster outside your house and ask if anyone's lost a kitten. Step 3; get on your local social media group and ask if anyone's lost a kitten. Chances are a near neighbour's family is in distress. (At least that's how it works in the UK. Maybe you're miles from your neighbour...) *vets = Veterinary surgery in UK. We always shorten it, I don't mean call your local ex-serviceman's club!

Take it to a local animal shelter or your animal control department and have them scan it for a microchip. If it's got one, the owner's info should be on file. If it doesn't have one ... If a young kitten has a chip, the folks who chipped them really want the cat. You'll be making be making them very happy to get their kitty back.
