Let them get angry man. You did the right thing. The next joke would be worse and so on. No matter the intent, once Pandora's Box is opened, we'd be one stop closer to becoming Facebook. And there's a reason the soapbox was closed down, clearly we're not mature enough to handle it.

Not angry - just frustrated and disappointed that the site has gotten to the point that a joke so anodyne as this one would get a slap on the wrist. Your response (here and below) made me think of why it would bother me so much and I realized that I no longer feel the desire to associate with a place that has become so obtusely "safe". I followed the rules for just shy of 23 years here and I find myself unwilling to self-censor to the level you now seem to require. That's on me so I shall just say 'adieu'.
