I expected this response. Grew up with ASCII. Worked because it didn't have to deal with sign bit.

Welcome! It depends on the problems! Tech queries aren't for the lounge - we have both the generalized Quick Answers[^] and specific Forums[^] for those. But general discussions here are fine - just don't be rude or abusive, and keep it SFW, please. So ... what's your problem? :-D

I'd be perfectly fine with a third of that. I'd buy a house, furnish it and still have some funds for funsies, plus my current savings.

Depends on where you live. In Los Angeles a million bucks would get you a shack at best with zero money left over.

With a million I could buy a nice house in a rich neigborhood of the nearest metropolis (Turin) but I prefer living outside the city and it's fairly easy to find nice houses for 100 - 170k, as long as you're willing to do some renovation that can be quite heavy too depending on the wanted result. For 200k you are almost guaranteed to have extra large houses with not many works to do on it apart furnishing them, and big houses drain money like crazy.

do you recall being born old . i recall being born young . upon entry to this world i recall thinking to myself "where am i this time?" . then i recall looking up to my mother's eyes and seeing she was not well and thinking to myself "this is going to be a long life" and it has and it is getting longer still .

I am really old now, and the memory starts to go, so I am not sure if that is true for me...

There were these guys boasting their long term memory, arguing who could remember the furthest back. The one who won the argument told that "I remember going on this camping trip with dad, and coming home with mom".
