I've set windows update to check for updates and then prompt me before downloading or installing them, which is fine. However, a couple of weeks ago it came up with a whole lot of updates which I didn't want to download at that time, so I told it to remind me later. I ran windows update that night and downloaded the whole lot overnight. However, windows update continues to tell me that the same updates need downloading. Is there any way to tell it that those ones have been downloaded and installed, and it should just do new ones? Ryan Being little and getting pushed around by big guys all my life I guess I compensate by pushing electrons and holes around. Have you tried disabling and re-enabling auto-update? I believe that way it forgets what it had to download. Or at least hope so.. :~

Ryan, I've disabled Windows Update. I prefer to update my OS en masse when a SP is released. My system seems much more stable that way. /ravi Let's put "civil" back in "civilization" Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

Absolutely, thats the way I prefer too. I remain sane that way :-) I think these updates creates more problems than they solve, they release patches to patch the patch  Regards, Kannan

I've seen this before. Either I ignored it and it eventually went away, or I just told it to install them and it went away. Matt Newman

I believe I fixed this by deleting the Windows Update ActiveX control (under IE Options). It then recreates itself correctly when you visit the site again.
