I just tried to get a copy of a government letter (I'm after applying for a Blue Badge for Herself, and need a letter they sent some ten years ago for proof of entitlement) and it's a free phone number 0800 ... But it's a Friday arvo, so after a 5 level "press 0 for this, 1 for that" automated rejection redirection system I get the engaged tone and they cut me off. "Sod it!" I think. "I'll try Monday morning." So I put a reminder in google calendar: "Phone DWP re [Herself] PIP decision letter 0800 121 4433 @09:00" for Monday. And it goes in for 08:00 and throws away the rest of the message because it ignores the "@" part and assumes the phone number is a time ... :sigh:

But see, if that *had* been what you were trying to do, it would've saved you time by, ummm... ...not doing anything with the rest of what you typed in? I don't know, let them justify it. *Every* time software is trying to be too smart for its own good leads to undesired results. And companies like Google insist on trying too hard.
