A good run, a life lived pretty fully by any estimation. She'll be missed by a lot of people. :rose:
There's smoke in my iris But I painted a sunny day on the insides of my eyelids So I'm ready now (What you ready for?) I'm ready for life in this city And my wings have grown almost enough to lift me

I just walked through the factory and the radio was playing Proud Mary, great song I thought. Now I know why. :( RIP Tina. :rose:

Sad news indeed. Hard life she had. What a true legend and icon, really. Mad respect for her.

She did amazing with what she had to work with. I'd call that winning, even for all of the crap she went through. That's why I said she had a good run. She made the most of it.

Real question: Should not be "despite" instead of "even" in that sentence? Or am I understanding you wrong?
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I agree. I am reading that she renounced her U.S. citizenship and finished her last years in Switzerland with her 2nd husband. Interesting.

"despite X" is probably the more common way of saying it "even for all of X" works too.

In an interview with Marie Claire South Africa in 2018, Turner said: "People think my life has been tough, but I think it's been a wonderful journey. The older you get, the more you realise it's not what happened, it's how you deal with it."

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but it works if you pick it apart. :) I'm making a mental note of it to not use it here now, because we have a lot of people who speak English as a second language here, and I try to be mindful of that, but my writing style doesn't really lend itself to being easily accessible to everyone. :(

If someone reads you and doesn't understand you, but doesn't ask as I did... it is not your problem.

I understand what you're saying. I'm descriptivist though, and at the end of the day part of that means I feel it's my job to convey what I mean to my audience, and if they didn't understand it, then *I* can do better.
