Security Certificates

We are a small (read tiny, miniscule, infintesimal...) software development company and we need to sign some Office 2000 macros. This is a small, non-critical need and frankly, some of the prices being asked for certificates are ridiculous. If you have been down this path, any advice regarding the best deals around would be most welcome. Paul Hooper If you spend your whole life looking over your shoulder, they will get you from the front instead.

Would you be able to use a self-signed certificate? It wouldn't be from a trusted authority, but your users could trust it specifically. Phil Boyd MCP "I took the road less traveled..."
We can use self signed certificates but we sell to schools which tend to be run by very security conscious, but ill informed, sys admins (1000 inquisitive and destructive students will do that to you!) and many of them will NOT install the software if it is signed with an untrusted certificate. Interestingly, we currently get them to set the security level to Medium and enable the macros. They are actually happier with this  !!
