In Texas we say "we are having a heat wave" or just another long hot summer. 42+C is pretty hot. We get some of that in west and north central parts of state. Near the coast, not so much but still high 90's. What we do in that kind of heat, is stay in doors most of the time with AC running full blast. All our cars have AC.

In times like this owning a house near the woods is priceless.
At this time of the year that would be a not so hot day in Texas and I would have adopted the lifestyle of a crocodile and spent most of the day in the pool.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats. His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

Reminds me of my 3 years in Southern Arizona. Any outside work started at 5am and ended by 10am. Interestingly, all of the weather forecasts started with the burn index - the # of minutes you can stay outside unprotected and not get sun burn. Usually under 7 minutes. The children all learned about metal and the sun. They could get into their car seats, keeping their legs apart to avoid the metal clasp.

Greetings from Phoenix, AZ. At 108F we go about our normal day. It looks like 118F is forecast for this Sunday. Actually, we do try to get up to the higher elevations of the northern part of the state as much as we can in the summer. It looks like 107F in Sedona (4300 ft elevation) and 96F in Flagstaff (7000 ft elevation) on Sunday.
I was persuaded to be a Best Man at a friend's wedding in Phoenix. Outdoor wedding, 108 degrees, tuxedo! Luckily , it was a dry heat and it didn't last long before we went indoors for the the reception.

I live at 7000 ft in the White Mountains of AZ Yes 97 degrees daytime but by 8 PM we go down to 76 degrees BUT only 10% Humidity Having lived at Grand Canyon I would watch and provide medical care for hikers coming out of the bottom of the Canyon Some were not adequately prepared for the hike a few would loose their life because of this It is not a dry heat It is a HOT burn and dehydrate your body heat!
